Load Management

Grid stability without a grid upgrade.

Industrial battery storage and intelligent EMS that give your facility headroom against connection limits, peak demand spikes, and voltage that keeps tripping your sensitive equipment. Keep production moving while the grid catches up.

OPPORTUNITIES

The grid isn’t built for what your facility is about to do.

You’re not asking for more power. You’re asking the grid to respond the way your operations do – instantly, predictably, and without penalising you when load spikes for fifteen minutes. That’s a gap no utility is going to close for you.

Grid-connection limits

Cap new production lines, EV charging, and heat pumps. The grid operator says yes – after a two-year and six-figure connection upgrade.

Peak-demand penalties

Your tariff punishes you for the 15 minutes your compressors, chillers, or welders all run at once. The peak counts, the other 23 hours don’t.

Outages and brownouts

Every grid event is a restart sequence, a quality-check cycle, and sometimes a lost batch. Your CFO sees a write-off; your COO sees what it actually cost.

Voltage & frequency fluctuations

Sensitive equipment doesn’t fail catastrophically. It ages faster, drops more quality, and retires earlier than it should.

HOW IT WORKS

A buffer layer between your operations and the grid.

The BESS and EMS sit between your facility and the grid connection point. The grid keeps doing what it does; your operations keep doing what they do; the system in the middle absorbs the mismatch. Four mechanisms, one integrated stack.

CAPACITY RELIEF

Add load without rebuilding your connection

The battery absorbs load spikes so your grid connection sees a flatter, lower profile. Production expansions, EV chargers, or new equipment get commissioned in weeks, not after a two-year grid upgrade.

PEAK SHAVING

Cap demand charges at a defined threshold

The EMS watches the grid connection point in real time. When consumption approaches the peak threshold, the battery discharges to cover the spike. Demand charges fall; operations don’t.

BACKUP & CONTINUITY

Keep critical loads running through grid events

When the grid drops or sags, the system supports defined critical loads from stored energy until the grid returns or an on-site generator takes over. Scope and switchover are configured per site.

VOLTAGE & FREQUENCY SUPPORT

Smooth what reaches your sensitive equipment

The power conversion system actively supports voltage and frequency at the connection point, certified to VDE-AR-N 4105 and 4110. Sensitive drives, servers, and precision machinery see a cleaner power profile.

Stack them

Most sites don’t face just one of these problems. They face two or three at once. The EMS combines the mechanisms above into a single operating logic – continuity, capacity, and cost savings coming from the same asset.

Load Managment

Dynamic Power Management for Fast Charging

A 300 kW fast charger places significant demands on the site’s electrical infrastructure, exceeding the power available from the grid connection alone. To guarantee full charging performance, power from the grid and battery system must be intelligently managed and continuously synchronized with the charger’s demand profile.

261 kWh BESS + Integrated EMS

The 261 kWh battery energy storage system provides the additional power required to operate the 300 kW fast charger beyond the site’s grid capacity. The integrated EMS continuously coordinates power delivery from both the grid connection and the battery, ensuring that charging demand is met at all times. Through dynamic load management and real-time power balancing, the system delivers reliable highpower charging while maximizing the utilization of existing electrical infrastructure.

Dynamic Power Balancing, Full Charging Performance

Intelligent load management seamlessly balances battery and grid power to deliver full charging performance whenever needed. The result is reliable fast charging without compromising site operations or requiring costly grid upgrades

  • -25% Energy Cost
  • 261 kWh BESS Capacity
  • €165k Grid upgrade avoided

Two systems. One integrated stack.

Continuity isn’t a bolt-on. It comes from a BESS and an EMS designed to work together and tuned to your site’s actual load profile, grid constraints and critical-load map.

The questions your facility manager is going to ask.

Answered directly. If we haven’t covered what you need, a 30-minute call with an engineer will.

How long can the system back up our critical loads?

Backup duration depends on three things: which loads you define as critical, the system capacity we size for your site, and how much state-of-charge we reserve for the backup function versus peak shaving and trading. For a typical mid-size industrial site defining CNC lines, a server room and essential HVAC as critical, designs run from 30 minutes to several hours. We size this against your outage-risk tolerance and your economics, not a generic rule.

What's the switchover time when the grid fails?

The system detects grid events and transitions defined critical loads to battery support. Exact switchover behaviour is configured per site, some loads tolerate a short break, others need near-seamless support. We specify this in the system design phase and validate it during commissioning.

Do we need to replace our existing switchgear and UPS?

In most cases, no. The BESS integrates at the connection point via standard three-phase 315–450 Vac, 50/60 Hz, and the EMS speaks Modbus-RTU/TCP to existing SCADA or BMS. Critical loads with an existing UPS can keep it if the BESS extends runtime behind it. We confirm compatibility as part of the site assessment, not later.

What if our loads grow over the next five years?

The BESS is modular. You add battery racks within an existing cabinet, or add cabinets in parallel, without re-engineering the EMS layer. The same EMS controls a single EOM 260 today and a multi-cabinet paralleled system later. Partners who’ve scaled with us have done it without ripping out the first install.

How fast can this actually be installed?

Delivery for standard configurations is 8-12 weeks. On-site installation for a typical C&I facility takes 1-3 weeks. The disruptive window grid tie-in is usually a single scheduled shift outside production hours. We coordinate with your facility manager and your local DSO from day one.

Who services this thing over an 8-year lifecycle?

A named regional contact from day one and for the life of the system. Remote monitoring via the EMS cloud means we see most issues before you do. Germany and Austria are supported from the German office; Central and Eastern Europe from Sofia. Spare parts held in stock in Bulgaria. Industrial service SLAs available. No ticket queues, no offshore call centre.

Is it reliable? What certifications does it carry?

The BESS is certified to UN 38.3, IEC 62619, UL 1973, UL 9540A, IEC 62477-1 LVD, IEC 61000-6-2/4 EMC, EN 50549, VDE-AR-N 4105:2018, and VDE-AR-N 4110:2018. Assembled and factory-tested at Monbat’s German plant. Up to 8-year product warranty. Financing partners and insurers recognise these certifications without additional due diligence.
